Made by Dante, this is a dramatic pair of Museum Masterpiece The Kiss brown & white incolay stone cameo style kissing lovers in a reclining embrace cufflinks. The shiny gold tone oval cufflinks have a deeply incised border of flowers & scrolls that is enhanced by a black applied patina. in the center is a plaque of The Kiss that “depicts the pagan gods in embrace at the festival of Appolo Carneus. The practice of lovemaking was an important aspect of their rituals.” The cufflinks are made from Incolay stone, a combination of minerals & chemicals, & are meant to mimic genuine cameos. The Museum Masterpiece series of cufflinks depict artwork done by Greek & Roman artisans from 400 BC to 300 AD, & include historical events as well as mythology. A larger size, they measure 1 1/8 inches wide, 1 inch tall & 3/16 inch thick. The cufflinks are in very good vintage condition. The shank of each cufflink is signed Dante. All items are carefully wrapped, placed in a new gift box & tied with curling ribbon. This item will be shipped via USPS first class mail.
