Grab Bag 27 is a twenty-story collection in habu’s eclectic anthology series of active gay male life and tribulations short stories. These stories, presented in the order in which they were written, were composed during the spring and summer of 2022. Most of the stories in the collection are from contemporary time, but six are set in historical times, as early as the Colorado Rockies in the 1870s, to New York and Europe in the 1920s and 1930s, to Hollywood in the 1940s, and times connected to habu’s own life in the 1970s.Habu’s long life has been one of a world traveler and international resident and several of the stories in this anthology are set outside of the United States, including two set in Italy and one each in Amsterdam, Germany, the French Congo, Australia, and Japan. Over half of these stories are set in the United States, from New York, down through Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Kentucky, to Georgia and Louisiana, and west to Chicago, Colorado, and California. Two of the stories were written to enter summer story contests, one for Halloween, and two for winter holidays. All of the stories are set in a hedonist world where being actively gay and on the make is the norm and rough sex is sometimes the goal and the fulfillment.
